It's a ZOO out there

Challenge #20 - at Fantabulous Cricut was to make a project using an animal.

This is a toilet paper roll mini album.  I used the tutorial from my fellow Design Team Member, Lori Coughlin at Living in Organized Chaos

I used Create a Critter and Animal Kingdom to make this toilet paper roll mini album.  There are 5 toilet paper rolls in this album.  I pressed them flat with a bone folder and put them in a phone book, setting it under my cricut for a few days to get them flat.

I used mostly cricut papers and various ribbons.  I tied each of the tags to the inside and onto the eyelet to keep the tags attached to the right slot.  I figured it might be frustrating if you are reading it with a kid and the tags kept falling out or you pulled out woof-woof when it should say tweet-tweet.

The DT got to use JOYSLIFE.COM pun stamps for our cards, but mine are stuck in customs so I didn't get to use mine this time but I will soon!

Even my DH liked this project.  It was lots of fun to repurpose this item. Come join us at Fantabulous Cricut with your animal!

What?!!

Sending this to a friend who appreciates sarcasm.  I got the digi clip from Iclips.  But, my printer broke, so I ended up drawing him freehand by looking at the computer screen.  I got pretty close I think.  I made the scrub-brush freehand too.  I just cut out what I thought the shape would be and colored it with copics.

Happy Sunny Days Popping Up

Number 10!  This is my 10th different kind of card as part of my New Year's Resolution to try one different fold a month.  This is my first attempt at a Pop Up Card.   My Creative Time had a challenge to use the colors Red, Brown and Blue.  And Charisma Cardz was Spots & Stripes, so I decided I would incorporate all three things, my different card fold and their challenges.   Plus a few more challenges that I often stalk but never play.

HAPPY SUNNY DAY is inspired by Hoops and YoYo and this e-card: Hoops & YOYO

This card made from Create A Critter and Pooh Font.  It is a very simple pop up card for which there are tutorials all over the internet.

Bee Yourself

I'm sending this to my sister who is nervous about starting her NEW JOB in her new town.  The best advice is to BE YOURSELF and SMILE.   She's going to be great at her new job!

I just received this CTMH Stamp from my rep. Kelesta at K.E. Creations.  It's such an adorable little stamp and perfect for my sister starting her new job..  The Cuttlebug Spot sketch this week lent itself perfectly to frame this little stamp.  I also had this fun black and white daisy paper, from Making Memories, that I have been wanting to use for a long time.  What goes with bees?  Flowers.  Used George to make all the squares and Serenade to create the swirls.  Cuttlebug folders Swiss Dots and Flowers and Swirls.

Least and Most

The Crafty Cardmakers challenge this week is your most favorite and least favorite color combo.  My most favorite I think in making cards is Black.  It's basic, it's dramatic and can be understated.  I like yellow too.   I really don't like purple.  In all my paper sets, purple and orange are the last things left in there.

Firefly, Firefly, My how you shine.
When I'm out at night, I see you just fine.

Letters from Pooh Font cut at 4 inches.  Fireflies from Stretch Your Imagination cut at 1.5 inches.  Embossed with Divine Swirls folder.

Winged Things

This is my project for the FANTABULOUS CRICUT challenge this week.

This is the airplane from New Arrival, cut 4 times  at 7"
The monkey, frog and elephant heads from New Arrival at 1"
I cut off the wings and turned them to be straight out so it was 3D instead of flat.
I added wheels so it would stand up.  And a strip of paper 3" by 7"
folded on each side a 1/4 of an inch and then attached to the two airplane panels to
make the bowl to hold the items.
The tag is from George and the lettering is Pooh Font.
Fill as desired.

This is a little pictorial on how I put the plane together.  I took it apart so you could see

This is the airplane from New Arrival, cut 4 times  at 7"
I flipped it in DS, but if you don't have DS just put the paper upside down and cut it.
When it cuts, the wings are flat.  I cut themoff and cut out the layers assigned to the plane 4 times and glued two together.  I cut a slit in the center of the plane, I put the plane wings through, slayed the ends and glued them in place.

I cut a layer in black to hide the mechanics on the inside and to make the plane sturdier to stand.

Then I cut the circles in George to add the wheels and placed them on the bottom twice.
This is the inside bowl.  The black is the original and folded, the white is the flat layout so you can see.  I folded along the sides 1/4 of an inch to make a lip.
Mine measures flat 3" across.  I had to experiment with the sizing and you might too depending on what you want to hold.

I attached it with TERRIFICALLY TACKY TAPE.  It really holds the best in my opinion.

I showed the white attached so you could see it better. I let it rest for a few hours before I tried putting anything in it.
On the outside you can see a couple of places where I put brads.  They hold it together a little extra and add some decorative flair to the plane.  Decorate and fill as desired.

This is the centerpiece for my friend's farewell party for her son who is going to study abroad. He'll enjoy the goodies more than the plane, but his mom is happy!

Other things I tried

These are a couple of the other things I put together for the Rain and Water challenge at Fantabulous Cricut.  These are the ones I didn't like as well as the other post about Those Who Bait.....

This first one, the " i "  messed up in the word rain and I just ran out of energy with it.  You know those days when nothing is working right for you, so you just put it away.  I puddled out of this one.

Then......

and

and

And one other scrapbook page layout I did, that I will save for another time.
That's how those things go.  I know many of you will identify with the fact that even though the actual project isn't that bad, you just know it's not your best work.

So, someone will benefit from the other projects I did.
Onward and Upward!

Pile it on had a blog hop of Practical Scrappers, The Cuttlebug Spot. Sketchy Thursday, Scrap that Poetry, 365 Cards and themselves.  When I woke up this morning and saw their blog hop, I said, "Yippee" and hopped along. There was a challenge on each blog and I decided I would do them all.... so here we go.

Cuttlebug Spot - Glitter and Bling

2.  An Easter Flower Gift #13 - Scrap That Poetry

3.  365 Cards - Day 43 White Space (follow the sketch)

Well that covered all the challenges on the hop and it was a lot of fun!  Plus I got two scrap pages done and it made me get started on a few more.  If you don't participate in challenges you should.  It does just what it proclaims.  Challenges you to get moving on something.

Come play at Fantabulous Cricut with me or any of these challenges.  You're sure to have a blast and maybe win something too!

Get Twittering

Long before Twitter was a tweeting thing. Birds did it. In Bambi, at this time of the year, animals got twitterpated.

 A quote from that movie:
Flower: [about two birds fluttering around] Well! What's the matter with them?
Thumper: Why are they acting that way?
Friend Owl: Why, don't you know? They're twitterpated.
Flower, Bambi, Thumper: Twitterpated?
Friend Owl: Yes. Nearly everybody gets twitterpated in the springtime. For example: You're walking along, minding your own business. You're looking neither to the left, nor to the right, when all of a sudden you run smack into a pretty face. Woo-woo! You begin to get weak in the knees. Your head's in a whirl. And then you feel light as a feather, and before you know it, you're walking on air. And then you know what? You're knocked for a loop, and you completely lose your head!
Thumper: Gosh, that's awful.

So, I thought of this card.  It's nothing special but it gave me a giggle:

This pedastal card is made using Pooh & Friends Font, Home Decor, Lyrical Letters, Stretch Your Imagination and George.  The papers are Bo Bunny and Allison Pennington.  One bird brad.  There is a good tutorial for making a pedestal card at Obsessed with Scrapbooking.

Have a great day!
