Foreign Roads of Micronesia

Hi all,

I have finished my last wedding as a wedding coordinator.  Bittersweet.  Having done Event Coordination for over 20 years now.  I'm ready.  More importantly......... my husband is ready.  He's the one who is glad I'm no longer missing in action on weekends while I "create" corporate retreats, weddings, anniversaries, changes of command, retirement ceremonies, etc....
All the initials were done using Lyrical Letters or Storybook.  I used the deep cut blade on thick cardboard then covered it with moss.  The L&M at the front of the chapel were cut in paper on Cricut, then I cut them out  on styrofoam.

The couple this past weekend wanted a several day wedding event.  AND they loved their initials.  We did initials everywhere.  The table cloths were made of burlap and table runners that were pieced together like quilt tops (thanks to my mother in law for sewing so MUCH).  We did Dahlias for flowers which were awful.  They wilted so fast. They were gorgeous and some of them were bigger than my head, but they didn't weather well.

I forgot to take pictures of the cake which also had their initals on top of them.

Lastly, while in Italy, we bought a GPS unit to help us navigate the roads of Europe.  It came with the maps of Italy, France and some of Germany already programmed on it.  Rather than buy a new one right after we landed back in the U.S.  We reprogrammed it to use the U.S. maps and language.  This weekend while in Austin, TX for the wedding, we used it to get around for all the events of this weekend wedding party.  Texas has lots of FM roads (short for Farm to Market).  However, our foreign GPS interpreted the road FM to mean Foreign roads of Micronesia.  I died laughing...........  sometimes you do wonder what world you are in.

WIN SOME DIGI'S

Over at Practical Scrappers they want you to tell them if you use digi-stamps.  You can win some from the Stamping Boutique (A GREAT PLACE FOR DIGI'S) just for telling them how you use them.  This was my entry for Digi's the "Twirling Fairy" from stamping boutique.

It's a Pedastal Card that can be used for more than the standard Christmas card.  The sentiment is Create Joy and Merriment and you can put it up anytime a little joy needs to be created.
It's just so fun to color!  Go to Practical Scrappers here and tell about your digi stamps

Angel in a jar

I caught my angel in a jar.  "Angie Angel" is one of Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps and the jar is from Stretch My Imaginations Cricut cartridge.  "Angie Angel" is colored with Martha Stewart color pencils.  Paper is White Core Cricut paper, run through the Cuttlebug using the Divine Swirls embossing folder, lightly sanded the paper to release the color core.  Flowers and Leaves cut on the cricut.  Material and ribbon added to the jar and holes poked in the lid so Angie can breathe.  Sentiment inside is: "You're so captivating."

Flowers for May

Challenge #11 at Fantabulous Cricut is Flowers for May.  Create a project using at least 3 flowers on your project.
I love walk in my garden.  All these flowers from there.  The center pink flower I used the Cricut Markers on to trace arounde the leaves and then cut it out.  I then curled each of the leaves with my fingers.  Similar techniques on the other flowers .  I LOVE flowers so this was a fun card to make.

Add in a few brads, stickles and  I looked at my card and said, this is one I would like to receive.  No sentiment inside as I haven't decided if I will send it to anyone. :0)

At Practical Scrappers the challenge is to use something that is more than a year old.  No problem there, I had this purple ribbon since my oldest son got married six years ago.  I've had the Mary Engelbreit stickers for two years or more.  I just kept looking at them and wondering what to do with them so they sat in the drawer.  I've had the stamps and the rhinestones a long time too.  The doily package I've had for years, but I just opened it.

So even though all the stuff is old, I needed to put them on something new to me (my stipulation).  I looked for a new fold and found a card someone had done for a baby that was three tags joined together.  I used that model for my own design of pocketed tags.

My DH leaves comments on my cards at night while I am sleeping.  He is currently in Kuwait.
He hated the purple ribbons at the top and said it was like trying to look through a forest.  When I got up this morning, I decided he was right and replaced the ribbons with buttons and I like it SO much better.  Hurray for dear husbands!

More Fun with Puns

Today, I have two puns I'm working with.  I like them both for different reasons.  I also like that the cards are good for anything from Get Well to Birthday (Just not sympathy).   Got any puns to suggest?

This card made with Animal Kingdon, New Arrival, Storybook and Lyrical Letters.
I don't have Paper Dolls and I wanted a clown, so I used the baby from New Arrival and welded together the baby clothes and booties to make the clown outfit, then added the ruffles from Storybook. The step the clown is on is a squished fishbowl with 3 X's from Storybook. The hat is also a flourish from Storybook.

What would a morning be without a morning mug shot?
This mug is from Joys of the Season.  I welded two of them together.
I cut the rectangles from George and the letters from Lyrical Letters.
The mug is mounted on white card stock.

Happy day!

Coffee Love

This is a peanut can.  My husband loves coffee.  We live in the land of Espresso and even though he likes those he MISSES American coffee.  So when I found his favorite Nescafe instant coffee that he can use on the road, I was so excited.  I made this little Valentine gift and put the coffee along with some sugar packets and some hot chocolate in the can.  The handle comes off and the lid can pop on so he can throw the can in the suitcase and take it with him.

Warm Winter Bunnies

Warm winter bunnies with love.  The bunnies are digi stamps from Bee Crafty.
I'm just learning about digi stamps and I had a blast coloring this one.  The picture doesn't do the rabbits justice because the white pen I used has texture that you can feel and I blended in the grays. The interior is Allison Pennington papers and has a light blue with white dots print that matches the ribbon.
Cricut hearts from George
Scalloped circles from Storybook
Cuttlebug Devine Swirls embossing folder

The Next New Thing

Crafting is nothing if not the next new thing.  Where would the craft business be without it?  And, I would be bored without it. (smile)  This is my S card another differing fold from my norm.  PLUS it has many many layers of textures, ribbons, papers, etc.  I'm usually a simple girl.  I like a simple (usually funny) message and a pretty simple card.  However, since I got my cricut, I've tried more and more difficult things and a menagerie of contrivances.

Last night while talking with my DH, we discussed how peer groups never go away.  They are just different and older.  I covet some of the talents of my fellow card makers and long for this new thing or that new machine.  Really growing up though is learning to hone your own craft and be challenged to make it better.  I'm really grateful for the Cricut Message Boards, fellow crafters and challenges that teach me to be better at my craft.

George for all the squares and rectangles

Cuttlebug embossing folders
