Blog Anniversary Blog Candy

It's my blog anniversary.  I can't believe I have been doing this a year.  We moved to Italy just a year ago and I started blogging the cards I made since being a full-time homemaker and cricuteer.  The best thing about what I've done this year in making cards has been joining the Cricut Card Fairies and giving myself something to be proud of doing.  I have fun on the challenges and I really like the Cricut boards, but doing something for someone else is my goal in making cards.  Spread a little joy......  SO, here's some blog candy to spread some joy to others!

This blog candy is for a $50.00 gift certificate to Custom Crops.  I will do a random drawing on March 1st (Italy Time) and post it here only.  Come back then to see if you won.    Post this on your blog, leave a comment here and follow me if you are not already a follower.

Thanks for visiting and good luck!

Card Fairy Cards - Don't look at the date

Just posting some cards I'm sending out. I keep adding new ones to this post so I can keep my blog candy at the top, so even though the date is old, new cards are being added nearly every day. They aren't anything special to anyone but the people who are receiving them, but I wanted to archive them.

Scraplifted this bunny card from the Cricut Message Boards.  The original was made by
Southernbellescrapper.  The one she did is far better than mine, but it was just too cute
not to try it.

My First Blog Award

This is my first blog award.  A Sunshine Award!!

I was graced with this beautiful award from Lisa at Scrappin in NJ  Thanks Lisa!
Now, I'm supposed to give the award to six other people.  Link it back to the person who gave it to you and give it away again.

1.        Nikki at Scrappin’Navy Wife (her blog here)  I love Nikki’s work.  She is a great artist and designer.  More than that, she has one of the toughest jobs in the world, spouse of a military man.  I am especially fond of Nikki because she is a Navy wife and my husband is a Navy Veteran.  Thanks for inspiring me Nikki!
2.       Look @ La’s – She is a cake designer.  I’m so impressed with the work she does and with 4 boys at home! She is my sister and best friend.  She has a very creative mind and inspires me frequently.  Thanks La for always encouraging me!  Her blog here.
3.       Joy is a joy! Her blog here. I became friends with Joy because she lives in Prattville, Alabama!  When I was working for the National Encouragement Foundation the mayor of Prattville was one of the first mayors to sign up for his city to be an encouraging city.  Joy knows and is friends with the mayor and that was our “friend” link.  Plus we both love sunflowers.  She has taught me much in card making and design.  She is a great encouragement, living up to her name!
4.       Jeannie at A Place For My Cards -  Jeannie was my first inspiration in Cricut card making.  I absolutely love her style and would love to be able to duplicate it.  But, she has taught me to have my own style.  She is a great teacher of design and is one of the most helpful people I know. A masterful artist!
5.       Margie at Bella Bug Creations.  I became friends with Margie because she is a young grandmother like me.  They got married young and are still married.   We have that in common!  Isn’t that the definition of friends?....... when one can turn to the other and say “Me too!”  More than that, Margie designs some of the best pieces of accomplished artwork and paper encouragement!
6.       GJ – G and I both have “simple card beauty” respect.  She designs many cut files and shares them! Her blog here.  She is a frequent encourager on the Cricut Message boards and I enjoy her communications very much!  She is a gifted seamstress, photographer and cardmaker….. an all-around crafter.
Thanks ladies for inspiring me and keeping me going!  Now pass it on. :0)

An Apple A Day

I'm so happy with this card. I dreamed about it.... which I've been doing a lot lately.  Some cards turn out great and some don't even turn out. But I could hardly wait to do this one.  Tom gave me an Ipod for Valentines and I haven't even played with it because I had to get it out of my head!

Sentiment:  An apple a day can keep anyone away if thrown hard enough. ~ Stephen Colbert

I like to send encouragement or get well cards that give people a chuckle.  Laughter is the best medicine!

Apple from Makin' the Grade Cut twice
at 4.5 inches in Red
Cut once in Brown at 4.5 inches.
Sandwiched the brown between the
two red apples creating a pocket
for the sentiment.  Rectangles cut with
George at 2.5 inches and 2 inches.
Lady bug and layers cut at 1.5.  Ladybug,
leaves and caterpillar from Walk in my Garden.
Caterpillar cut twice, once flipped in DS so that I could
double side him so he looked right from the back.
Caterpillar was 3". Leaves were 2"
Flower was an EK success punch. Accent on the
apple From the Kitchen.

Sentiment is computer generated.

Hope it made you smile!

Sunshine and Sweet

There is just something nice about a sweet simple card.   Funny how they take a while to put together too.  But I did the layering on this one while I was waiting for the stickles to dry on another card and it just made me smile.  It's going to a lady on my cricut card fairy list.

Card Word Book

This is the card word book I made for my husband.  It is only 4 inches tall and 5 inches long.  It fits great into a small envelope.  It doesn't weigh much which is the best part about how it can be a card.   I hope he likes it.

The sentiment is:  The best part of me is you.
(He did like it).

Hi Friend

Still going on my New Year's resolution to try new things.  I've been wanting to try a word book.  The one I want to do is for my grandson though, so I think that I will wait until after we go home for his first birthday.   I thought, "why not a card like a word book."  So, I started with this Hi and now I'm working on a second card for my husband.

There are 18 flower brads on this card.

No Card Today

Had to clean up the house today so no cricuteering for me.  Having to do some research on my body too.

Calling all people with Hypothyroidism and Depression.  Anyone else out there experiencing some of these difficulties?  There are lots of books and websites out there on the correlation between the two.  Here is one

I'm very interested in this phenomenon.  One - it's hereditary.  Two - I'm getting older and it is supposed to get worse as "women" age into their 50s.

Is there anyone who has found a solution to their own personal issues with this?  What did you use?  What did you do?  I'm already taking synthroid and two anti-depressants, Cymbalta and Wellbutrin.  I HATE the Cymbalta, but there are awful side effects coming off the drug---- Brain Snaps, Heart Palpitations, Irrational Thought, Food Cravings, Joint Pain, etc.  It hurts worse to go off it.  Wellbutrin counteracts some of the bad side effects of being on the cymbalta, but it means taking two of those drugs.  Being on the drugs allows me to think rationally and keeps me from sudden outbursts of emotional tears, fits of rage, suicidal ideology and completely irrational acting out.

What is a successful life on these drugs?
